IDEAS TO LIFE

THE MUSIC IN ME
Writing music was not something I had considered doing until I moved to Western Canada in 2018. Even though I loved living and performing in Toronto, I had so many ideas that was spinning inside, but I could not find the space to bring them to life. On a nomadic pet-sitting adventure in British Columbia, I delved into Jungian psychology and creating sound art, mostly for choir.

Since then, I have taken moreso to text and graphic scores, with concepts that resonate deeply with me. My vision is to shake up the choral industrial complex with theatrical, visual, and experimental storytelling.
FEATURED WORKS
NON-DUAL
SATB, 3’30
The hyper-realization that everything is connected and we are all one.
LULL
String Quartet, 4'
When I first wrote this piece, I thought it was about a love so deep it wasn't possible to put it into words....years later, I discovered that it was because I didn't feel comfortable in the relationship dynamic, I didn't feel comfortable expressing my feelings, I didn't feel comfortable being myself.
GOOD MORNING
SATB, 4’
GOOD MORNING is a collage of sentiments that occur throughout 4 major stages of a relationship.
PRIMA MATERIA
SATB, 5'
PRIMA MATERIA explores transformation through the lens of alchemy, weaving chaos and order. It reflects on our intrinsic connection to each other and the world, urging us to embrace the "Secret Fire" that guides collective evolution.

Performance Notes
Each of the 6 mini movements are a different musical idea.
Each repeated section should sound as close to its predecessor as
possible, even though it is being improvised.
' = prime/variation

CYCLICAL
SATB, 4’30
Happiness is fleeting...Cyclical is a visceral demonstration, divided into “mini-movements” which repeat the same notion in various formats. Elements of theatrics, sound sculpture, and audience participation accentuate the humour and darkness that is the self.
