PSOUNDSCAPE

PSOUNDS is an immersive public art exhibition that reimagines everyday spaces as portals into multiple POVs—“points of sound.” Created by Jessie Rivest, the project invited the community to explore listening as an act of participation through interactive QR codes at 7 locations across Kelowna. Each scan prompted the participant to pause, listen, and upload a recording of their surroundings. This PSOUNDScape is the summative capstone. Drawing from 65 submissions from the 4 month exhibition, Jessie, with the assistance and collaboration from audio engineer Scott Lougheed, arranged a selection of community field recordings into a story of what Kelowna sounds like in 2025. This project was made possible by the City of Kelowna Community Arts Grant. Check out the Community Library to hear raw submissions, more about the project, or request a PSOUNDS installation in your city!
